Case study · Virgin Hotels New York · September 2026
A head of state,
and a room built for it.
We produced the Croatia–USA Business Forum for the Croatian Chamber of Economy, the Government of the Republic of Croatia, and the Croatian National Tourist Board — a keynote and fireside chat by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, staged inside Virgin Hotels New York's newly renovated 7,000 sq ft event space.
16′ × 10′ LED video wall on a 16′ × 8′ stage · fireside chat with Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, moderated by Iva Vukina
A bilateral forum,
on a protocol clock.
The Croatia–USA Business Forum brought more than 30 Croatian and roughly 70 American companies into one room in NoMad, on the margins of the UN General Assembly. The head of a European government was speaking, Croatian national press was covering it live, and the venue's event floor had only just come out of renovation.
That combination sets the terms. A protocol schedule does not slip to wait for a screen to come back; a press pool needs a clean backdrop and usable audio the moment the principal steps off stage; and a brand-new room means no accumulated house knowledge to lean on. Everything had to be surveyed, built, and proven before doors.
We delivered the full technical package — video, staging, audio, playback, and soft goods — as a single scope with one producer accountable for the run of show.
LED video wall
A 16′ × 10′ high-resolution LED wall, ground-supported and raised on our stage so the image cleared a seated audience from the back row. Bright enough to hold its own against a wall of west-facing windows in late-afternoon light — the condition that defeats most projection in a glass-walled hotel space.
16′ × 8′ stage
Our own decking, set and skirted to put the lectern, the fireside seats, and the wall on one clean plane. Height was chosen for sightlines and for the photographers' eyeline, so the principal reads correctly in press frames rather than being shot from below.
Conference audio & microphones
A complete conference sound system covering the lectern, the fireside-chat positions, and the press area — speech-tuned reinforcement for a hard-surfaced room, coordinated wireless frequencies, and an engineer on the desk from first rehearsal through the final interview.
Video playback & wall support
Presentation and title content collected, conformed, and run live from front of house, with a technician on the wall for the duration of the program. Speaker-identification graphics changed on cue between remarks, the keynote, and the moderated chat — no dead screen between segments.
Pipe and drape
Soft goods to mask the back of house, shape the room to the audience size, and frame the press step-and-repeat so the branded backdrop sat clean in every photograph and broadcast cutaway.
Front of house — the desk stays in the room, not in a back hallway, so the mix is heard where the audience sits
A full house — sightlines held to the back wall and the standing row
The press position — branded, lit, and mic'd for a pool that works on its own clock
The show nobody
had to think about.
A government program is judged by what the cameras and the room record, and almost all of that is decided before doors: the wall surveyed against the venue's power and floor loading, wireless frequencies coordinated and logged, the stage set to a height that flatters rather than diminishes, content conformed and rehearsed with real cues rather than assumed.
We ran the forum as one scope with one producer, so the Chamber, the government advance team, and the hotel each had a single point of contact rather than four vendors pointing at one another. Load-in fit the venue's window. The program started on time and stayed on it.
Then we struck the room and handed it back the way we found it — which, in a space that had been open for weeks, mattered as much as the show itself.
